I. HISTORY
------------------------------------------------------------
The History of the Heavenly Court
------------------------------------------------------------
Once upon a time there was a group of divine beings called the Heavenly Court, now known in our religious history as "The Old Court". There were beings for every element; Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. They created the sun, the sea, the sky, and the land. All four beings created the Human race and from this creation sprung forth two contrary states of mind, Evilness and Holiness. These beings could not imagine Gods that did not exist for these aspects and from them was born Alexander and Styx. They represented the Balance. Alexander took the Heavenly Court within his grasp, proclaiming himself King of all Humanity for none could touch the holy state of his divinity. Styx was wrought of evil and had evil intentions but Alexander forced him to undertake his grisly task of ferrying souls to the Heavenly Abode. Alexander realized that to preserve the balance he would have to create a place that punished the wicked and the Darkest Gloom was wrought of his desire, to punish those led astray from the Light, to those who succumbed to the Dark.
The Four Elemental Gods, unhappy with Humanity, created more races and soon the world flourished with a variety of beings as intelligent as Humans and with as much aptitude for Good and Evil as Humanity. [Elves, Dragons, Gnomes, Dwarfs, Sprites, Nymphs, etc].
Styx brooded and became unhappy with his fate that he himself did not create. From his dreams sprung forth monsters and races whose aptitude existed mainly for evil and thus Orcs, Gnolls, and Goblins came to exist.
Thus the races existed and for a time, the Light prevailed against the Dark but there seemed no end to the evil the races inflicted upon one another.
Because Styx and Alexander were wrought from Human desire, they did not have the detached airiness of those others of the Court and succumbed to human weaknesses at times. One day, Styx challenged Alexander to preserve the Light in a more direct way and he would preserve the Dark as well.
Alexander intrigued, wanted to know what Styx had in mind. He suggested that both of them select fifty humans a piece and imbue them with their divinity. When the Balance tipped completely in one another's favor, their roles would switch as well as their Champions. Alexander accepted his wager and the first fifty Paladins were borne of their gamble, as well as the first 50 Death Knights. When either of their fated died, they would become a Champion of the other once more to merely preserve the balance.
The Black Hand and The White Hand warred for thousands of years and eventually, Styx won his wager. No Paladins existed to preserve the Balance and so Alexander became Styx and Styx became Alexander. When Styx and Alexander assumed their new roles, the Balance returned. But Alexander [Styx] cast down the Old Court ridding them of their divinity, granting it to four souls he cherished who had ascended from within the Darkest Gloom. He could not completely destroy the Old Court and thus the Elementals were borne into the world, remnants of the old Gods, reminders they existed.
The four newest Elemental Gods, who are now the Heavenly Court, having been human once, remembered their weakness on Earth and sought to create a force common to all so Humanity could rise above the disadvantages they had. They created Ki Energy [Or Magic] which gave rise to fantastic warring. They allowed the Races to draw upon their divinity if they asked for it but only if that God or Goddess felt the need to allow them it. Alexander [Styx] sought to keep this in check and granted each Human a drop of his blood and depending on how many drops they had acquired, depended upon their strength with his new force, Chi Energy.
He was human in nature and so favored others more, those so favored with more then one were imbued with the powers of Restoration. Styx [Alexander] would not allow himself to be left out and so created a new form of magic, Necromation, granting those who asked for it the power to control the dead. While they may have been able to balance their magic against each other, they decided if the Elemental Gods were banding together with their force, so would they. They created a neutral magic which was granted to both of those who favored them as opposed to the others.
Alexander [Styx] and Styx [Alexander] did not see the error of their ways when they agreed to create Prophecy. They did not think that Humanity would bind them in prophecy but unfortunately, this came about. The Elementals embraced prophecy as well and created their future through sheer willpower and desire.
[[TL;DR - Upon creation of Humanity, two more Gods came into existence and warred with one another through Paladins and Death Knights. Eventually, the Evil God won and became the Holy God while the Holy God became the Evil God. The new Holy God cast down the Elemental Gods and granted 4 Human Souls Divinity who, in turn, created magic. The Holy and Evil Gods also created a form of magic.]]
------------------------------------------------------------
The History of the Elementals
------------------------------------------------------------
The Elementals are merely remnants of the Old Court, beings of pure Elemental Properties who exist in a permanant limbo of Life and Immortality. The Old Gods could not be disposed of without utter loss of their divinity and so they remain, their power being drawn upon by the current presiding Heavenly Court.
The Elementals who embraced Prophecy created four beings who would serve as their Avatars when the time came. They were born through normal means though created beforehand and have absolutely no knowledge of their intended fate as weapons against a thread of Prophecy involving Ometh.
The Elementals believe they understand the truth of what the Prophecies mean and hope they can use these four beings in order to correct the Balance again and return the Court to what it once was.

II. PROPHECIES
------------------------------------------------------------
The Prophecy of the Perversion
------------------------------------------------------------
Borne of darkness and of light,
A single source of terror and blight,
Fifty strong of them are dead,
Springs forth a knight of darkest dread.
His eyes upon the palest hand,
His mind doth form a devious plan,
With words of malice he begins,
To cast a Queen against her kin.
Upon the maiden's brow he kissed,
A poison tongue with which he hissed,
A fear of light invoked by curse,
A constant sleep within a hearse.
